L’Aia is a very spacious house comprising two floors.  The roof is fully insulated which makes the house cozy in winter and cool in the summer months.  Most of the accommodation is on the 1st floor. There is a large lounge with a rustic open fireplace; two large settees making this room a very comfortable place to relax.  The property also has wifi.

L’Aia sleeps eight people comfortably. All bedrooms are large consisting of one double bed; one en-suite with super king-size bed (2 mattresses); one twin; further twin where the bed can be zipped together to make a super king-size bed.  All the bedrooms are on the 1st floor.  There is an en-suite shower in one of the twin rooms and a separate bathroom with toilet and basin.

On the ground floor, there is a further shower, toilet, and basin.  There is also a washing machine.

There is a large and well-fitted kitchen, on the ground floor, which includes dishwasher, fridge/freezer, and oven with gas hob.  There is a large table & chairs (seats eight people).  There is no extra charge for electricity/gas.

L’Aia is set in its own grounds of about an acre amidst stunning scenery.

There are different areas to sit: by the pool; on the deck or in the dell where there is an old well.

Nearby Sans Severino there is a children’s play park and there are tennis courts in Tolentino. It is essential to hire a car but driving in Le Marche is considerably calmer than Italy’s reputation.

Take a week at the house and a long weekend either Florence, Bologna or Rome before or after being at the house. This way one can capitalise on a greater variety of flights.

Benvenuto,  hanno una buona vacanza!

SEE & DO

THINGS TO DO

Top up your tan

With a breeze from the sea then try the beach (sandy or shingle) at Civitanova.

Golf

There are a number of opportunities to play golf in the Le Marche area.  Possibly the closest to L’Aia Rustica is the splendid Ancona 18 Hole Golf Course, only 50 minutes away by car.

Take stunning walks

At the Monti Sibillini National Park or Sassotetto. There are also several gorges to walk down finding your way to lonely hermitages accompanied by butterflies galore in the summer.

Ski

Only 40 minutes away by car in the beautiful Monti Sibillini  National Park. For more information click here.

Visit the Caves

Loreto and Grotte di Frasassi (Frasassi Caves) are well worth a visit.

L’Aia is ideal for both summer and winter holidays.  Le Marche is not as dry as Tuscany although there is little rain in July and August when temperatures can reach as high as the mid-30s.

If you want to top up your tan with a breeze from the sea then try the beach (sandy or shingle) at Civitanova.

If it really is too hot at the house then there are stunning walks in the Monti Sibillini National Park. For a gentle walk try walking on the Sassotetto. This is where people ski in the winter but it makes wonderful walking during the summer. In fact, the whole of the Monti Sibillini National Park is absolutely stunning. There are also several gorges to walk down finding your way to lonely hermitages accompanied by butterflies galore in the summer.

For those wanting to take the house in the winter, there is full gas central heating and a wood burning stove. The ski slopes are 40 minutes away by car in the beautiful Monti Sibillini  National Park. The skiing is ‘locale’ – but extremely adequate with local people para-skiing on the slopes around where the main runs and lift systems are. Check out the local website: Sassoteto skiing.

There are many local interests: Assisi is 1hr across the Apennines to the west; and, Urbina (the lost Florence of Italy) is 2 hours north.  Macerata, a thriving & fashionable town in which to ‘passeggiata’ with its 10th-century ‘centro’, is 30-minutes by car.  It has an open-air theater (opera during July & August:  Sferisterio Opera Festival).  Fabriano, famous for the making of paper and San Benedeto/Pelegrino for bottled water/spa towns are other interesting places to visit.  Not far from L'Aia Rustica you can find Belforte dei Chienti where the best preserved 'polytych' (a large triptych) in Europe famously hidden from Napoleon when he came looking to steal it can be found!!

Loreto and Grotte di Frasassi (Frasassi Caves) are also well worth a visit.
